      The correct answers is C.
      As first we get the requirement then we do the design.
      So if we have a bug in the requirement then design is also buggy.
      So we have to fix the bug from the requirement phase which will lead to have a new design.
      So, faults in requirements are the most expensive to fix.

      The correct answer for question#30 is B.
      As you can see in the question it will accept numbers between 10 to 21.
      So the MOST boundary values that covers will be: 9,10,21,22.
      That is what we check in 'Boundary Value' testing.

      According to ISTQB:
      Boundary value analysis (BVA) is based on testing at the boundaries between partitions. If you have ever done 'range checking', you were probably using the boundary value analysis technique, even if you weren't aware of it. Note that we have both valid boundaries (in the valid partitions) and invalid boundaries (in the invalid partitions).
      As an example, consider a printer that has an input option of the number of copies to be made, from 1 to 99.
      To apply boundary value analysis, we will take the minimum and maximum (boundary) values from the valid partition (1 and 99 in this case) together with copies to be made, from 1 to 99.

      The first or last value respectively in each of the invalid partitions adjacent to the valid partition (0 and 100 in this case). In this example we would have three equivalence partitioning tests (one from each of the three partitions) and four boundary value tests.

      So in the end we get: 0,1,99,100

  7. If answer for Question 36 is B, can you please provide a similar example to show the usage of Stubs..? As per Section 2.2.1 in ISTQB Book -
    Most often stubs and drivers are used to replace the missing software and simulate the interface between the software components in a simple manner. A stub is called from the software component to be tested; a driver calls a component to be tested...

      let's consider a following class that you want to test automaticaly:

      public class ToTest() {

      ....private InternalService internalService;

      ........} else {
      ............return false;
      ........}
      ....}
      }

      1. You need some script/program that would invoke this class (that would create an instance and invoke methodToTest()). This piece of a software you'd call Driver
      2. Note that class ToTest requires also and instance of InternalService so you can create a Stub (or Mock) and inject it into this class. The purpose of Stub/Mock is to simulate (record) behavior of InternalService. Since you want to test only ToTest class you need to mock all it's dependencies.

      There is one additional word I used - Mock. For the purpose of this post I used them interchangeably but these in fact are not the same, there is a nice article about the differences: http://martinfowler.com/articles/mocksArentStubs.html

  8. Hi, it seems to me that the answer to question #37 is wrong. There are two "if" statements so in fact we need 2^2 scenarios to cover all paths which is 4 while the answer says that we need only 3. Please advise.

  11. Hi! Could you elaborate on the result of question 37?
    I first got the question a bit wrong and thought I should count testcases to cover all statements. In this case only 2 cases would be needed. -> (cond1 true + cond2 true):statement1 and 3 covered and (cond1 false):statement 2 covered ...
    But ok, text says all possible combinations of statements. So we have 3 statements S1, S2 and S3. According to the code all possible combinations would be S1, S2, S1+S3, S2+S3 (the first two combinations when cond3 is false) -> makes 4 combinations and thus 4 test-cases necessary.
    Hope someone can explain why the solution given here is 3?

      Please check 4.3.2 Boundary Value Analysis(K3) from ISTQB foundation level syllabus 2011.
      “Tests cab be designed to cover both valid and invalid boundary values.”
      Answer “C” has both valid (1900,2004) and invalid(1899,2005) boundary values. Why do you think that there should be one more pair of valid values(1901,2003) be there?

      The question is about “cover all of the equivalence partitions”. So you should cover all three partitions (RejectAcceptReject) not just the accept one(10 to 21).
